How to get Malaga
Malaga airport is the international airport of Andalusia (Spain)
accounting for 85 percent of its international traffic. The airport
has a daily link with twenty cities in Spain and over a hundred
cities in Europe.
Malaga airport is
well-served by public transport, with Cercanias Malaga train
directly serving the airport from Malaga city centre. The train station is under the Airport Terminal Three. You should take the lift outside the Arrivals Hall own to the station. You must have a ticket before you board the train (there is an automated ticket machine at the airport station, but you will need Euro coins. The cost of one-way journey to Malaga is around 1.35Eur weekdays and 1.50Eur weekend and holydays). Take the direction Malaga (not Fuengirola) until the terminus station (Maria Zambrano Renfe Station). A new bus express service (Line A) between the airport and the city centre has been recently inaugurated. It costs around 2Eur. You can take/leave the bus either at 'Explanada de la Estacion' (train station) if you are staying for example at the Tryp Alameda Hotel or at 'Alameda Principal' or 'Paseo del Parque' if you are staying at Don Curro or any hotel downtown. It runs every 30 min (from 6:25 to 24:00 everyday). Finally, the number 19
bus stop is located just outside the main Arrivals Hall. The bus runs from 7:00 to 24:00 and
departs every 30 min.
By train. The
AVE high speed train service links the Malaga city centre with
Madrid in appr 2hr 30 mins. Madrid-Malaga AVE ticket prices cost
appr 75Eur for a single fare if bought on the day, or as low as appr
30Eur if booked online in advance.
Besides, the AVE high
speed service allows that rail journey time between Malaga and
Seville takes less than two hours.
